Kada (born Kathryn Maree Southwell on January 10, 1990) is a singer songwriter/pianist from the Mid North Coast, NSW & also resides a few months a year in Carlsbad, California. In 2012 Kada signed an Artist Development/Production & Digital Distribution deal with LA based Label MNO Records where she recorded her debut album 'The Unknown'. With killer vocals, catchy hooks & big beats, Kada has released what she calls her ‘musical journal’. Finding inspiration from her own life & journey the lyrics are direct from the soul. Kadas dream of a singing career started at a young age, belting out sweet melodys as soon as she was aware she could make sound. She would confidently sing to fellow shoppers from her stage also referred to as her mothers shopping trolley & to anyone who would listen. At age 7 Kada began classical piano lessons which opened up the doors to a whole new world & enabled her to truly express herself for the first time through her music.

Since then Kada has gone onto sing the American National Anthem at a Major League Baseball Game in San Diego & also the Wings for Life World Run in Santa Clarita, CA. Her debut single ‘In Memory’ was nominated for 2 awards in the Australian Independent Music Awards for Best pop song & Best Music Video. Unfortunately she didn’t win but was grateful for the experience as she was also chosen out of thousands of applicants to perform on the main stage during the award show.

Kada’s musical influence is inspired by many of Icons from the legends of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson & Elton John to todays Artists like Beyonce, Florence and The Machine, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Pink, Ellie Goulding, Sia, Bruno Mars, Lorde & Adele. Although she feels the pressures of fitting into a certain category with a specific look, Kada is determined to pave her own path right to the top of the music industry. She is not looking to be the next anything but the first KADA.
